Trying to find a good way to communicate with friends and family is difficult.

So, after our Caringbridge experience, Chris and I decided that we would try a different form of communication this time around.  I have searched for patient-oriented sites similar to Caringbridge that would allow for better communication (i.e., allowing back-and-forth comments), no advertising, and better formatting features (half of the people looking at Caringbridge saw a photo of Chris posted sideways, the other half saw it rightside up).

The best option, according to a Google search of "Sites similar to Caringbridge" was one with the disturbingly dark title of "Post Hope."  I immediately read that as all hope is lost, the horse is out of the barn, Elvis has left the building.  Ugh.  And it was just a reboot of Caringbridge.

So, here I am on Blogger.

I feel so 90s, starting a blog.

Give me your feedback as to whether this is a good format for future updates and discussions.  I am loathe to go to Facebook, but it may be that that Zuckerberg fellow has an idea with his little website.

  1. It's a great idea. You have more control and those nefarious folks don't own every keystroke.

    1. Your approval is one of the most important. Thanks.

    2. Do you get an email notification whenever anyone posts a reply? Also, when you post a new entry (not a reply to a comment), does everyone get an email notification? CaringBridge did that, and I think that worked well.

    3. Nope. This is less intrusive but also people who wish for notifications won't get them as they did on Caringbridge. One of several trade-offs, I think.

    4. I'm OK with simply stalking the site. I really like that I can respond directly here. Also, post-hope is hopeless.

  2. Perhaps this will work

  3. So you need to log into your google account, so they know who is commenting. Then after you type in the comment you need to hit preview and type the numbers or letters. Then hit publish.
